Change your Lens, Change your Life!

Life as a Work of Art Laboratories are monthly experiential workshops designed to support meaningful, lasting inner change so you can create a life that reflects who and what you really are, and want to be.

It sees each of as as Artists of our own lives, capable of learning new ways of thinking, feeling and acting, that can help us make new choices that bring us to greater love of self, meaningful connection to others, and a sense of enlivening purpose and direction that is constantly evolving.

But to be able to shift out of the ways we are often stuck in past patterns and beliefs, we must become willing to change the lens we are looking through. We are often deeply influenced by ways of thinking, being and acting that were passed down to us from our parents, our societies, our religions, that no longer feel in tune with who we are and where we want to go. Changing the lens is not an easy process: it requires more than trying to simply think positively, or do affirmations. We need to become willing to dig deep, see WHAT it is we need to change, WHO we truly are and want to be, and also begin to imagine WHERE we want to go from here.

Drawing from a synthesis of psychology, neuroscience, somatic awareness, mindfulness, spirituality, and subtle energy work, these laboratories invite you to gently explore where you are, where you wish to go, and how to move forward in a way that feels authentic and soul-centered.

Rather than striving for perfection or following linear formulas for success, this work honors life as a living, evolving process. By examining the deeper “why” behind our beliefs, choices, and patterns—many of which are unconscious or inherited—we open the door to greater freedom, purpose, and self-agency.

Originally conceived by Antonio Mercurio, Life as a Work of Art is a way of thinking, acting, and being that allows us not only to heal, but to learn how to freely and responsibly love ourselves, love others, and receive love. As we learn to transform our life experiences into sources of meaning and beauty, our personal growth naturally becomes a gift to our families, communities, and the world.

Calendar for 2026

Life as a Work of Art Laboratories are monthly hybrid experiential workshops that support deep personal transformation through self-inquiry, emotional experience, and embodied awareness.

Rooted in analytical psychology, existential anthropology, mindfulness, and somatic experiencing, this work helps you move beyond old patterns, reconnect with your inner wisdom (including by connecting with your Inner Family/Inner Children), and live with greater authenticity, freedom, and purpose—creating a life that feels meaningful, beautiful, and true.

The following Themes are general guidelines to some of the topics we will explore. Check back for eventual updates as things evolve!

February 21 – 10:30 am – 12 pm

Theme: Clarifying our Vision for our Lives. What is the Work of Art we want to create? What does it look like? What does it Feel like? What do we need to get there?

April 18 – 10:30 am – 12 pm

Theme: The structures that hold us: what is keeping us safe, and what is holding us back from the things we most need and want?

How to recognize what our true needs are on both the material and immaterial plane, and how to reconcile these needs when they feel they are opposing each other, and causing us to freeze, back off, remain stuck in old patterns, or simply not know where to get the support we need to grow into something new.

June 20 – 10:30 am – 12 pm

Theme: Birthing new levels of Wholeness: What wounded parts of me need the most attention, and how can I activate my Inner Artist to help me both heal, and create something new?

Always have unshakable faith in yourself, and in your Higher Self. Even if many years go by, don’t give up on your dreams and don’t substitute your faith in yourself and in your dreams with anger, envy and revenge.

Face death, every time you must, and let yourself be led even where you don’t want to go, because the truth your mind tells you is far away from the truth that is held in your heart. Face death every time you have to: not physical death, but inner death.

The secret existence of the Self is revealed in dreams. If you cultivate a dream, you are cultivating the Self. If you cultivate the Self, you are cultivating a sun, and if a sun is your captain, it will certainly bring you to your dreams, for however impossible they may seem to you now.

Through the dream of life the Self reveals itself. When you actualize the dream of your own life, you find your unique place in the universe.

The Higher Self’s first goal is to achieve freedom. It wants us to become free from the effects of our wounding, from our need to control, from our conditioning. The second goal is beauty, and the development of the kind of creativity we need to be able to bring beauty into being in our lives.

Achieving freedom also means learning how to give ourselves to others, but freedom cannot be the end goal of our lives; it is even more important to become aware of our innate creativity, and the kind of existential beauty we are here to produce.
